My Story

I have been a student of yoga since 2002 and came to the practice as a way to reconnect to my mind and body from the dance world. When I first came to yoga, I felt fragmented and insecure. While I always knew what I wanted, I didn’t necessarily know how to get there and didn’t have the right tools in my tool box to operate from the most authentic place and make the right choices to support those endeavors.

That changed when I found yoga.

For so long I sought strength and validation from outside sources, but what I was really seeking was already within. Yoga and meditation helped me to peel away the obstacles that kept me from tapping into the infinite wellspring of strength, love, wisdom and luminosity that has been there all along.

My enthusiasm for yoga led me to study with Maty Ezraty, Gabriel Halpern, Chuck Miller, Richard Freeman, Tim Miller, and Dona Holleman. I had the privilege of apprenticing under Gabriel Halpern in his Iyengar therapeutics venues, working with students with various chronic and acute injuries and illnesses, and assisted Maty Ezraty in teacher trainings.

With a background in Ashtanga, Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga and Vipassana meditation, my classes are dynamic and challenging. I seek to create classes that are balanced with both effort and ease, strength and flexibility, and of course, a sense of humor. I use my training as a massage therapist and knowledge of anatomy to give accurate adjustments and verbal cues. I believe the body is a vessel and use alignment in asana practice as a vehicle to go inside, pay attention, and begin to observe and examine the inner workings of the mind. Thus, an environment is created for students to meet their bodies and minds where they are from day to day, allowing the practice to naturally unfold.

I am a Registered Nurse and am in the process of obtaining my Doctorate in Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Women & Gender Studies from DePaul University.
